Modern Slavery Policy

Although Hako Machines Ltd are not required under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 to report on our Anti-Slavery activity, we are committed to abiding by the provisions in the Act and will do everything we can to ensure that our activities do not encourage or support slavery, servitude, forced labour, human trafficking or exploitation in any form.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to the wellbeing of all those who work for us. We carry out pre-employment checks on all employees including verification that the individual has the right to work in the UK and is free to make his or her own choices regarding employment. All employees have written contracts of employment.

We do not use contract or agency staff as a matter of routine but if that need were to arise, we would use only reputable agencies that carry out robust checks on the staff they supply.

We operate solely in the UK and do not undertake any cross-border work activities.

Hako Machines is part of the Hako GMBH group and with the group providing or controlling 95% of our supply chain, we also conform to their policy on modern slavery.

Hako GMBH expect our suppliers and business partners to equally respect internationally recognized human rights and environmental standards and to appropriately implement them in their own actions and in their own supply chains. Hako expects its own employees, suppliers and business partners to comply with the applicable national laws, the legal requirements of the European Union and the globally recognized social and environmental standards as laid down in the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP), the Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the core labour standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO). The Hako Group’s expectations of employees, suppliers and business partners include, in particular, compliance with the prohibition of child labour, slavery, forced labour, disregard for occupational health and safety, disregard for freedom of association, withholding fair wages, illegal eviction and illegal withdrawal of land, illegal use of private or public security forces.

Our remaining supply chain is extensive and numbers over 100 firms, almost exclusively UK based. We use only suppliers who have a well-established and reputable position in the marketplace. Where the organisation is required to report on its anti-slavery activity, we will carry out checks on their reports. Where that is not the case, we will take whatever steps we can to reassure ourselves that the supplier is not supporting or encouraging slavery.
